Hi this amazing

can you ask a few questions ?

What engine did you use

how did the idea come to mind

Wow only…

a month late, whoopsies?

Here come little-fish-chewing me trying to tackle this multi-year wait of a legally-distinct full karting product of a game, cheers.

(Note: Most of this is based on the campaign, version 1.09, with some extra bugs noticed through Free Play.
The latter part of this review might seem a bit downer-y or nitpicky, I just wanted to balance off the endless praise with something useful.)

First of all, victory lap for everybody involved, the bloody amount of effort this took – from getting the graphics so right and maintaining accessibility, to the actual programming aspect of it, and the logistics of ‘getting everything to work™’, and finally the game design: the always-fresh level design, the excellent sound design emphasizing each action to a T, and tuning the controls to be understandable and flexible – must have been excruciating, and getting it out at all requires extreme talent and experience.

Second, blood champagne for the VAs, great characterizing and emphatic work all around and everybody sounds appropriately diseased for the environment.

Third is a dozen good gold medals for the audio department (again), not only are the SFXs punctuated, but the music is surprisingly energetic and full of life, incredibly bloodpumping OST overall.

There’s only so many times I can sing praises, so let me hum something a bit more practical.

The AI of the first couple races (and battles but to a lesser extent) are quite weak, and don’t actively compete with you, once you’ve gotten past them, the only thing that can even slightly mess you up is the Galaxy powerup (with enough distance, this isn’t a problem).

Some of the karts as well as melee weapons feel somewhat redundant, I get the purpose of some are heavy tradeoffs but you can mostly do pretty well with your kart and possibly Nicholas’ birdcage.

Of the birdcage, the Mansion is truly my least favorite, not necessarily because it’s different, Nick just felt annoying, “like c’mon man let me kill you real fast please™”, it was easily the hardest to ace (with the exception of the final FFA, which (seems to have) counted the outro and credit scroll as playtime).

There are also a few design hiccups: it’s tricky to aim backwards on keyboard, there’s no kill feedback (who knows, that killfeed might’ve been coincidental), some UI is hard to see on dark BGs and skyboxes, the tutorial missed (I say this because the tutorial explains a lot) some concepts, mostly nitpicks.

Bug/Issues Report:
-Sometimes when the Insight is knocked out of your hands, you will still ‘have’ it, and can throw it, despite it being out and about, other people can pick up the insight. -Miralodian courtyard is cheesy, just run around in an infinity pattern, taking the ramps, then taking the boost ramps, the AI will never catch you. -Initial weapons do not get restored if you lose the insight, more of a ‘nice option’ thing. -Voice gets set to 1 on NG+, don’t know if it happens the other way around, also may switch around? -Respawned once with the insight in the forest, weird. -Sometimes, possibly if you receive powerup reloads too quickly, you’ll be unable to use the powerup and the reload symbol and highlight will remain. -Finally, that credits screen is very nice but if I’m not acquainted with everybody’s work, I don’t know who did what.

Sorry again that the review seems so negative at the end.
I wanna make this absolutely clear, YOU HUNTED.

Im back on this cool retro horror game. This game is must play. I enjoy each time I play it.

This game re-awakened a nostalgic love for those "just fun for funs sake" arcadey games back in the day, and i havent even played bloodborne!!
LOVE this!!

hiiii, is there any chance you could possibly maybe add a linux build :3 that'd be really cool

(and/or a osx version too?  not pressuring you or anything)

It's amazing but do you think you could try adding multiplayer to play with friends? Maybe if you can't run your own servers you could add multiplayer to the steam version and use steam servers?

Godlike game. my review

A great kart racer build with extra weird. Great work no notes.

A 90s retro type horror racing game. There's nothing bad to say at all about this game. Whoever thought of this cool way of playing a game  is a genius. I gotta check and see what other games you guys create.

Amazing game! I honestly can't say anything except, thank you for making this masterpiece!

Hi, do you have an email I can use to send monetization proposal? (No Ads or anything like it).

Nightmare Kart? More like Dream Come True Kart! PlayStation really missed out on coming up with this idea in the 90’s, a game like this would have instantly become a classic! Excited to see what LWMedia comes up with next!

Loved this game from start to finish, it was a real treat and honestly could not get enough! Wish there was online play but still thank you to everyone who worked on this amazing game and really hoping Bloodborne one day can come to PC bc man I would love to replay it again! Thanks again!

amazing

hey, isn't there an action to do to enter the last level of the game?
I feel like I'm missing a hidden boss ...

This game was so amazing. I can tell so much hard work went into it. It plays very well, the controller support is a god send, the mechanics are fun to use and are so satisfying. I didnt get far in blood borne but I feel like there are so many cheeky references too, which I think comes from a dev that is deeply involved in the community.
This game should be worth some money, make sure to tip the creator.

(It may be beyond the scope of the project, but I would really love some multiplayer in this game. I feel like kicking my friends asses at this would be such a great experience)

There is local multiplayer!

Local Multiplayer is available. If you want online, you could use something like parsec or steam. I hope she adds a way to queue multiple races so I don't have to set the settings each time I want to play with friends.

I didn't even know about that option, thanks for letting me know. I'll take a look into it!

does anyone know how to connect a ps4 controller to this game and the other 'Nightborn" game

Awesome game, just beat it for the first time. Some things I noticed that could hopefully be included in a patch:

  • If you exit the Accessibility menu and then try to re-open it, it won't work unless you exit back to the title screen then return to the options menu.
  • There doesn't seem to be any rubber-banding at all. When I was doing well in race, I felt like I was never challenged once I made it far enough ahead. Similarly, when I was losing, I felt like there was no chance of recovery and eventually would resort to restarting the entire match.
  • How tf do you escape Galaxy's End? Mario has ways to avoid the blue shell, for example. Including this in AI races feels a little cruel, I'd understand if it was relegated for multiplayer matches only.

It's a very exciting game, but doesn't it have a difficulty setting? The levels are very easy for me

Love the art style <3

this game looks fire I cant wait to play it

THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD OH MY GOD?????

it is so amazing!!! thank you !!

Bug(s)?:

  • On level 2, Miralodia Expressway, driving backwards will spawn the beast immediately.
  •  Chipper Chain Wheels have no effect on this beast.
  •  Shooting it enough will cause it to stagger and fall with the Visceral button prompt, but you seem to be unable to use a Visceral Boost on it.

A few others, unrelated to level 2:
(Note: This is on Keyboard with default controls.)

  •  Pressing the pause button (ESC) while the pause menu is open will cause it to close, and reopen almost immediately after. This sticks out, as the pause button usually just closes/returns to the previous menu.
  • Pressing the Use Power Up button whilst one is cycling through items will cause it to stop, and give you the result instantly. (This seems intended but potentially obscure, so I thought I might mention it, just in case.)
  •  In the button rebinding menu, both Power Brake and Look Back seem to be unrebindable. After prompting for a button to bind to, it continually displays "...", even after pressing something.
  •  Additionally, as others have noticed, the Default button doesn't seem to do anything in the rebind menu, either.
  • Attempting to rebind an action to Numpad 5 without having Num Lock enabled will cause the control to be bound to "None."
In general, the settings menu seems to be a little bit inconsistent. Audio settings will be retained, even if you close and reopen the game, but Rebinds and certain settings in the Graphics menu, don't. Notably,
  • "Start game in Fullscreen" seems to always act as if it is set to Yes.
  • Resolution seems to reset to the default value.
  • Rebinds will be reset, as well.
  • The accessibility menu is inaccessible whilst in a race, while the Rebinds are inaccessible in the menus.
  • The FPS Cap seems to change depending on when and where you open the Graphics menu. For example, the main menu displays a FPS Cap of 30. Going into a race, and then looking at the settings again, the FPS Cap will now display 20.

For those who are still having trouble, here are two videos showing how to get all the Moon Shards and how to beat the final boss and get the true ending of Nightmare Kart.

so cool!!

never heard and never played bloodborne so i dont know what it's about the game, but goddamn this is really well made, thankyou for making such a wonderful piece of artwork

(+1)

Thank you so much for this Lilith. The world just needed this game to exist, but you've gone the extra mile to deliver this fantastic piece. I just beat it once, and couldn't stop laughing and grinning the whole way through. Congrats to you and everyone who helped create this monumental shitpost fangame original game ! I can't wait to play it with my best friend with whom we bonded over Bloodborne.

P.S: Surprisingly, I think the re-branding into a bootleg variant is actually funnier and even more enjoyable than if it were really BBkart. The last-minute changes to actually dodge legal issues are too hilarious to me, I mean seriously the birdcage lmao

I'm absolutely loving the game so far, and I was looking to play it as multiplayer but I cannot seem to get different inputs to register as separate players. Is this something yall know how to fix or does this need to be patched in

My husband Sandwichard had a great time playing Nightmare Kart last night! He was looking forward to this for a while and had a lot of fun! HAPPY PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈

Can’t seem to launch the game… It shows NMKART.exe in task manager but it’s barely using any memory and CPU. Is this normal?

(+1)

sorry! Looks like I just had to wait a while for it to open

(-1)

thank you so much, please make an Android port too
